On June 8, trainees in the MBM Program gave up their Saturday morning to share science with the community at the Urbana Farmer’s Market. Jorge Maldonado De-Jesus coordinated the event — not just in terms of the display and volunteers, but also the manual work of picking up and dropping off equipment.

Because farmer’s markets start early, Karla Ramos-Cruz and Lauren Grant joined Jorge at six in the morning, an hour when most people would prefer to sleep, to help set up the booth and greet the market’s first visitors. Shannon Murphy and Whitney Sinclair took over mid-morning as traffic began to pick up, and Brian Baculis and Gelson Pagan-Diaz handled the late-morning crowds and helped tear down the booth at the end.

It was a breezy morning full of fun and science for everyone involved!
