The MBM Program welcomes two new faculty this fall, Drs. Stephen Boppart and Sepideh Sadaghiani.
Stephen Boppart is a Professor and Grainger Distinguished Chair in Engineering with appointments in the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Bioengineering. He is also a full-time faculty member at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology.
His Biophotonics Imaging Laboratory focuses on developing novel optical biomedical diagnostic and imaging technologies and translating them into clinical applications. He received his PhD in Medical and Electrical Engineering from MIT. In February 2019, he gave a Frontiers in Miniature Brain Machinery lecture and will give another one in February 2023.
Sepideh Sadaghiani is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Bioengineering at Illinois. Her research focuses on cognitive neuroscience. She earned her PhD in Neural and Behavioral Sciences from the International Max Planck Research School of Neural and Behavioural Sciences in France.
Sepideh Sadaghiani’s lab combines various techniques to address these questions in the human brain including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), electroencephalography (EEG), simultaneous EEG-fMRI and genetic analyses in healthy participants and neurological patients. She will give a Frontiers in Miniature Brain Machinery lecture on October 26, 2022.
We are very honored and excited to include both of these outstanding scientists in our program!
