MBM Trainee Mikhail Kandel delivered one of three presentations at the second Beckman Institute Graduate Student Seminar of the spring 2019 semester on April 3. His presentation was on “Improving Contrast with Phase Shifting Interferometry” and discussed preliminary studies using high-throughput user-friendly quantitative phase imaging (QPI) technology. Kandel has been working with MBM faculty Gabi Popescu to research new developments in imaging in vivo neuromuscular junctions.

Other presenters included Ghazal Naseri Kouzegarani, who works with MBM Principle Investigator Martha Gillette, and Francheska Merced-Nieves.

The seminar series gives outstanding graduate students at the Beckman Institute an opportunity to present their research to a multidisciplinary public audience.
